Renowned and popular writer Ved Prakash Kamboj was one of the prominent literary figures of the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. He was born on December 1, 1939, in Shahdara, Delhi. During his early years, while continuing his studies, he began assisting his father in their artifacts shop located at the Red Fort. It was during this time that he developed a deep interest in reading.

He started with Indian folklore and gradually moved on to religious texts, eventually discovering detective fiction. His introduction to the literary world was facilitated by the celebrated writer Om Prakash Sharma.

His first work, “Kangura,” was published around 1957–58 in Delhi. After 62 years, it was republished by the Neelam Jasoos Office. Following this, his novels were regularly published by Neelam Jasoos Office and Ratan & Company, Delhi. Over time, many publishers from Delhi and Meerut began publishing his works.

His association with Neelam Jasoos spans over 60 years and continues even today. His Singhi and Alfaanse series became immensely popular—so much so that several publishers attempted to release fake novels under his name. However, such profiteers ultimately failed.
