About the Book
Land has been, and continues to be, the most significant asset and core identity for tribal communities, with their survival and sustenance intricately linked to it. This book is the outcome of the author’s extensive experience working alongside the Adivasi communities in the Scheduled Areas of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, focusing on their struggles for the restoration of alienated tribal lands. Palla Trinadha Rao’s expertise in tribal land issues involved both legal and administrative interventions aimed at reclaiming lands from non-tribal intruders.
The book provides valuable insights into the complexities surrounding tribal land issues, particularly highlighting the role of political parties, non-tribal entrants, and the state in perpetuating land alienation. Through careful investigation and evidence, it sheds light on how political parties, seeking to consolidate their vote banks, push for progressive land legislations while simultaneously hindering their implementation. The author explores the evolution of protective land laws and forest laws, examining the outcomes of legal proceedings initiated to restore tribal lands and the critical role of the judiciary in dispensing justice.
This work is expected to ignite meaningful debates on tribal land issues and to contribute toward improving access to land in the Scheduled Areas of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is a must-read for those interested in understanding the intersection of tribal rights, land governance, and legal frameworks within the region.
