Book DescriptionEditor's Note During the reader's sojourn through the nectar-laden gardens of Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura's transcendental works presented in this publication, he may find quotations from the scriptures that lack a distinct reference to their origin. With this in mind, it is worth mentioning that at the time Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura wrote these works, knowledge of sanskrit, sastra, and important verses relevant to bhakti-yoga were so well known that quoting their source was practically unnecessary. Be-cause of the erudition of the readers as well as the elevated status of the author citing verses, there was no question of doubting reference material. Hence Visvanatha Cakravarti may not have felt it necessary to cite details of verses quoted that would have been fundamental knowledge to his contemporaries.
However, the translator and the editor of this book have at- tempted wherever possible to locate the references to scriptural quotations used in this publication. We hope this will assist the reader in his rewarding study of the illuminating writings of Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura. Unfortunately we were not al- ways able to locate the exact reference, but we trust this will not detract from the spiritual pleasure our readers will experience as they absorb the transcendental message presented in these pages.
