Though the Indian Constitution makesprovisions for establishing equality between men and women and provides for affiramtive actions in favour of women to rectify their adverse position, the fate of women in India continues to be in a bad shape and it is imperative to take additional steps for achieving the goal of operational equaility between men and women in India. All these factors necessitate discussing and understanding the different issues related to women for appreciating the probelems of women in India. The present volume is a modest attempt in that direction. About Author : Dr. A.N. Panda is presently working in P.G. Deptt. of Pol. Sc. Panchayat (Govt.Leadt) College, Bargarh, Orissa. He passed his BA Examination from Sambalpur University, Orissa with Distinction and was placed in the Second position. He stood Fourth in his M.A. Examination. He got his Ph.D. from Sambalpur University in 1995. He has been teaching Under Graduate and Post Graduate students since 1981. Two research scholars have got Ph.D. under his guidance and three are registered under him. He himself has completed one UGC research project and currently pursuing another. He has authored one book and written many research articles and reviwed six books. He is a member of many learned associations such as IIPA, New Delhi; IACIS, Hyderabad; IPSA, OPSA, ISGS and IACS. He has participated in several state, National and International level seminars/conferences and presented papers in them.
