S.K. Lal, born in 1939, is a renowned scholar who completed his education at prominent institutions. He graduated from Banaras Hindu University and holds an M.A. in Hindi from the University of Bombay, an M.A. in Sanskrit from Kanpur University, and a PhD in Sanskrit from the University of Pune. He also earned a Diploma in the German Language and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Sanskrit Linguistics from the University of Pune.
Dr. Lal has had an illustrious academic career, serving as a Reader in the Centre of Advanced Study in Sanskrit at the University of Pune. He has also taught Sanskrit and Hindi at prestigious international institutions such as the University de la Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris and the Universite de Lausanne in Switzerland. Dr. Lal has published several works, including Female Divinities in Hindu Mythology and Ritual, Vyasa-subhasita-sangraha (with English translation), Cikitsa (on Ayurveda), and Rsi-Vani (gleanings from the Vedas). He has also contributed over 60 papers to Indological journals.
