Description:
This book, Ragarnavam, is a critical edition of a rare Sanskrit manuscript, compiled by Acharya Bhagavatsharan Shukla, and forms part of the National Mission for Manuscripts' efforts to preserve and share valuable texts. The manuscript explores the ancient and rich tradition of Indian music, particularly ragas. It presents eighty lyrics dedicated to various ragas, including both well-known ones like Bhairav, Bhairavi, Vasant, and Malkosh, and lesser-known ones like Rodika, Saurashtri, and Yogi Bangalika. The composition is believed to have originated in the 16th century and serves as a testament to the composer's expertise in music theory. Acharya Shukla’s critical editing and commentary enrich the understanding of these ragas, making the text an invaluable resource for music lovers, researchers, and scholars interested in the rich musical traditions of India.
