About the Book
Since 2005, with the launch of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and other developmental programs, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have shown perceptible progress in crucial demographic and health indicators. However, challenges remain in areas such as population growth, health outcomes, gender inequality, unmet needs, and child nutrition. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar together contribute significantly to the total births, unmet needs, and people below the poverty line in India.
This book covers a wide range of issues at the intersection of population and development in these states. By utilizing data from sources such as the Census, NFHS, DLHS, NSSO, and more, it highlights the current scenario and emerging challenges. The book is an essential reference for researchers and policymakers.
