This book is a tribute to Comrade S. G. Sardesai (1907–1996), a pioneering figure of the communist movement in India. A freedom fighter, gifted organizer, powerful speaker, prolific writer, and outstanding Marxist thinker, Sardesai played a vital role in shaping left politics in the country. The volume opens with his life story, the first part of which was written by Mahapandit Rahul Sankrityayana during 1942–1943. The biographical narrative is then brought up to date through a subsequent article included in the book. The latter sections feature reminiscences and heartfelt tributes by senior leaders of the Communist Party of India who worked closely with Sardesai, including Comrades A. B. Bardhan, Inderjeet Gupta, Jagannath Sarkar, and Satya Pal Dang.
