In this book, NANDAGOPAL BHATTACHARJEE shares his personal experiences and observations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from his first encounter in 1944. While spending holidays in Jamni, a town in the Mungher district of Bihar, he was introduced to the RSS by his friend Sarat Kumar Mukhopadhyaya, a high official in the town. This was the first time he learned about the RSS, which was already operating in the region. Four years later, as a district magistrate in Berhampur, he encountered the RSS once again, observing their activities and methods, which seemed to echo the traditions of past Maharashtra. The March 1997 edition provides a deep insight into the author’s evolving understanding of the RSS, offering a personal perspective on its early years and methods of operation.
