The map of North Bengal that we see today is only one-third of the area called Greater North Bengal. That is, as a result of the partition of the country, two-thirds of North Bengal fell in East Pakistan. As a result of this political divide, my scope of discussion is limited to the India-based region of North Bengal. This is normal. And lack of information is a persistent problem. Moreover, the freedom movement of the North Bengal region was prominently placed in the newspapers of the Calcutta metropolis of the time.
