About the Book
This book provides a critical study of six prominent Hindu nationalists of modern India—Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Swami Vivekananda, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar, and Sita Ram Goel. It traces the intellectual genealogy of Hindu cultural nationalism and fundamentalism, revealing the less-known history behind their religious fundamentalism, fanaticism, narrow-minded nationalism, anti-minority attitudes, anti-secularism, and intolerance.
The study highlights the ideological roots of contemporary Hindu cultural nationalism and fundamentalism, showing that their origins are deeply embedded in the past. By exposing the darker aspects of these figures' ideologies, the book presents a broader perspective on how modern Hindu nationalism and fundamentalism have evolved.
This book is valuable for students, academics, scholars, and those interested in understanding the rise of certain Hindu nationalist organizations, their methods of mass mobilization, and their approach to minorities, particularly Indian Christians and Muslims.
