About the Book
This volume, devoted to the year 1928, is presented with deep emotion and respect, as it was prepared after the passing of Comrade Dr. Gangadhar Adhikari. A lifelong revolutionary, Dr. Adhikari had joined the communist movement in the mid-1920s while studying in Berlin, where he was a brilliant student of science. From 1928 onward, he emerged as one of the foremost builders and leaders of the Communist Party of India. In the final phase of his life, he resolved to dedicate himself to making available authentic documents that would preserve and illuminate the early history of the CPI. Although he could no longer personally guide the editorial work of this volume, his vision and commitment remain central to it. This book stands both as an important historical record of the communist movement in 1928 and as a tribute to Dr. Adhikari’s immense contribution to documenting and shaping the legacy of the Communist Party of India.
