About the Book
Diasporas: Concepts, Intersections, Identities is a comprehensive and interdisciplinary collection that delves into the multifaceted nature of diaspora in today’s globalized world. Featuring contributions from leading international scholars, the book offers rich theoretical insights and empirical studies on population movements and their complex intersections with identity, culture, politics, and economy.
This volume explores critical concepts such as migration, ethnicity, post-colonialism, and cosmopolitanism, while also engaging with broader themes like gender, race, political economy, and security. It examines how diasporic identities are shaped through material and electronic cultures, contributing to new understandings of how transnational lives are lived, negotiated, and represented in different sociopolitical contexts.
The book includes original case studies from both contemporary and classical diaspora communities, offering a global perspective on the relevance and application of diaspora theory. It challenges readers to think critically about the usefulness of the diaspora concept in analyzing issues of belonging, identity, and cultural transformation in a world of increasing mobility.
Essential for students, researchers, and professionals in fields such as migration studies, sociology, anthropology, religious studies, and cultural studies, this volume not only maps current scholarship but also sets the agenda for future research in diaspora and transnational studies.
