Decola Metal Flakes are high-quality imitation metal leaf flakes designed for gilding, decorative art, craft, and mixed-media projects. These flakes are made to replicate the look of precious metal leaf while being more economical and easier to use, especially on small surfaces, fine lines, edges, rims, and stencil work where a perfectly smooth finish is not required.

Unlike traditional metal leaf sheets, the flake (crumb) form allows artists to simply sprinkle or brush the flakes onto adhesive areas, making them ideal for detail work, textured finishes, and artistic effects. The flakes may vary slightly in shade or appear multi-tonal, which adds a unique decorative character to every project.

Metal flakes can be used for classic gilding, jewellery making, and special effects such as craquelure (crackle effects), highlights, and light-to-shade transitions. As these are imitation metals, sealing with a protective varnish is recommended to prevent oxidation and ensure long-lasting results.

How to Use

1. Ensure the surface is clean and degreased

2. Apply Decola Gilding Glue to the desired area

3. Sprinkle or brush the flakes using a wide, soft brush

4. Allow to dry completely

5. Seal with Decola Gilding Varnish for durability and shine
