About the Book:

Creative Aspects of Indian English is a thought-provoking collection of papers presented at the National Seminar held in Hyderabad from 9-11 February 1991, organized jointly by Sahitya Akademi and Poona University. The book examines the evolution of Indian English writing from the early Gandhian era to contemporary writers, exploring how they have maintained a distinct Indian sensibility while crafting a creative voice in English. The papers discuss the challenges Indian writers face, the defining characteristics of Indian English writing, and the intricacies of translating Indian literature into English. Celebrated authors like Mulk Raj Anand and Harish Narang provide deep insights into the subject, while the second part of the book presents poems by Jayanta Mahapatra and Keki Daruwalla, read at the seminar.
