About the Author
S.D. Saxena was Lecturer of Physics at the University of Rajasthan and a freelance writer before joining the P&T Department in 1972. After his post graduation in Physics, he joined the finance fraternity and completed his MBA in Financial Management. He was associated with Mr. Sam Pitroda in the initial stages of setting up C-DOT, which remains his most challenging and inspiring stint. He was Director (Finance) in MTNL and played a key role in bringing its GDR Issue, and was also member of Rakesh Mohan Committee on Infrastructure. He was Chairman, TAS Group, under the aegis of International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Geneva. Mr. Saxena is Director (Finance) on the Board of Directors of BSNL and has played a key role in the transition of BSNL from a 145-year old government department to a corporate body. A rare combination of a physicist and a CFO, Physics still remains his first love. He has three lovely daughters Devika, Smita and Shruti. His wife, Smt. Sadhana Dikshit remains his source of motivation to make his humble contributions in the overall Development of telecom in India.
