About the Book

Chemistry of Coordination Compounds is a comprehensive and advanced textbook that explores the fascinating field of coordination chemistry, one of the most important branches of modern inorganic chemistry. Designed for undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students, the book presents both the fundamental principles and contemporary developments in coordination chemistry with exceptional depth and clarity.

Beginning with the pioneering work of Alfred Werner, the father of coordination chemistry, the book traces the evolution of the subject into a multidisciplinary field encompassing inorganic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, catalysis, analytical chemistry, materials science, and bioinorganic chemistry. It provides a detailed understanding of the structural, electronic, thermodynamic, and kinetic aspects of coordination compounds while highlighting their applications in modern scientific research and industry.

The text offers thorough discussions on coordination compound isomerism, bonding theories, stereochemistry, colour, magnetic properties, stability, substitution mechanisms, redox chemistry, and photochemical reactions. It also explores the synthesis and chemistry of organometallic compounds, homogeneous catalysis, metal clusters, Zintl and Chevrel phases, and the biological roles of metal ions, making it an invaluable reference for advanced learners.

To strengthen conceptual understanding and analytical skills, each chapter includes carefully designed exercises, while comprehensive model questions at the end of every chapter prepare students for university examinations and national-level competitive examinations. The combination of theoretical depth, practical applications, and examination-oriented content makes this book an authoritative resource for higher studies in inorganic chemistry.
