About the Book
This book delves into the caste discrimination prevalent in Indian society, often portrayed by western scholars as a unique feature of India. However, the author compares this to race discrimination in the United States, arguing that caste discrimination in India is not isolated and offers a broader context of societal discrimination. Namishray concludes that Dalits in India have made greater strides in their progress compared to African Americans in the United States. However, the United States has made substantial efforts to bring out the latent potential of Black athletes, musicians, and artists. In contrast, India still needs to make similar efforts to nurture budding talent among the Dalit community.
This book offers a valuable contribution to the debate within the Indian Dalit community and presents a Dalit perspective on the comparison between caste discrimination in India and race discrimination in Western society.
