  • C.T. M. Kotraiah (born 1927) completed his B.A. (Hons) and M.A. in History from the University of Madras in 1953, securing the Sir George Fredric Stanley Gold Medal for First Rank. He then pursued training in Field Archaeology with the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) at their Excavations Camp at Rupar, Punjab, during the 1953-54 season. He later joined ASI as a curator and rose through the ranks, becoming the Zonal Officer and Regional Officer responsible for Archaeological Museums in southern India (Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry, and Goa). He served in ASI until his retirement in 1985. Throughout his career, Kotraiah was deeply involved in both archaeological research and museology.
