Besides morphological and anatomical structures of fishes, the book covers chapters on special organs of fishes such as electric, sound producing and light producing, adaptations in the deep sea and hill stream fishes, fish pathology, fish culture, fishing craft and gear, fish farming, nutritive value of fish, genetics and biotechnology of fish. The emphasis is given on sewage fed fisheries, Prawn fishery, estuarine fisheries, marine fisheries and effect of water pollution on fisheries. The book in the present form would be more useful to the students, researchers and for competitive examinations all over the country. Dr. S. S. Khanna (b.1930). He obtained his Master's Degree in Zoology in 1950 from Agra University, now Dr. B. R. A. University, Agra. He was awarded Ph. D. Degree by Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi in 1959, on his studies on Fishes. He has a long teaching and research experience. He has guided about two dozen scholars for their doctoral degree and has published more than 90 research papers in various National and International Journals. Besides his books on Fish and Fisheries, he is well known for his books on Genetics and Cell biology. He was Professor of Zoology at Udai Pratap College, Varanasi and D.S.B. Government College, Nainital; Principal, Government Postgraduate College, Pithoragarh and K. N. Government College, Gyanpur, U. P.; Joint Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh and retired as Director of Higher Education, U.P. He also served as Member, U.P. Higher Education Services Commission, Allahabad. Dr. Neerja Kapoor (b.1958-). She graduated and post graduated from Kumaun University, Nanital (now in Uttarakhand). She was awarded Gold Medal in M.Sc. for securing highest marks in the Science Faculty and obtained Ph.D. Degree on her studies on Fishes.
