Book Description
Loners in Love by Dew is a deeply personal and emotionally engaging work of fiction exploring loneliness, love, human connection, emotional vulnerability, identity, and the search for a place that feels like home. The author describes the book as a creation shaped over ten years, beginning in 2016 and evolving through different places and experiences across countries and continents.
The first volume consists of three philosophical and psychological fictions, each presenting distinct characters, settings, emotional journeys, and reflections on love and human connection. The stories explore the untold emotions and experiences of people who find themselves alone while searching for meaningful relationships and a sense of belonging.
The first story introduces Erez and Akie, whose unusual relationship unfolds against the backdrop of Český Krumlov and explores themes of abuse, abandonment, racism, freedom, love, and legacy. The second story follows neighbours Narciso and Serafina, whose quiet and meaningful connection develops in Bergamo amid the changing seasons and landscapes of Northern Italy. The final story centres on Illya, whose journey from Yokohama to Lviv becomes a search for identity, family, connection, and healing through his passion for sketching.
About the Author
Dew was born in Kolkata, in the cultural landscape of Tagore's Bengal. His journey as a writer and traveller has taken him across different countries and continents. After leaving Kolkata at the age of 22, he travelled through the Himalayas and later moved to Bangkok, Thailand, where he worked as an English teacher and began developing the ideas that would eventually become Loners in Love.
During the years that followed, Dew lived in different parts of the world, including Ukraine, Poland, and Portugal. His experiences of travel, spirituality, art, slow living, and encounters with people from different cultures have influenced his creative journey. During his time in Lviv, he established art cafés intended to provide a creative space for artists while continuing to work on the book.
Dew completed the writing of Loners in Love during his stay in Portugal. Through his writing, he seeks to explore human emotions, relationships, belonging, and the possibility of healing through stories and creative expression.
