The book gives an introduction to the theory of semigroups and its applications to the study of evolution equations. Finally an introduction to some techniques to solve nonlinear equations is given. The material in the text is supplemented by four appendices and an updated bibliography at the end. It is hoped that the current version is even more user friendly than the previous ones. The book should be of use both as a textbook and as a source of reference for research workers in this area.
