About the Book

This insightful volume delves into the critical role that universities must play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Recognizing that the current concept of sustainable development stems from the legacy of modernity and colonialism, the book encourages a deep and reflective engagement with the SDGs. It emphasizes that universities are not merely drivers of transformation but are themselves subjects of essential change.

Through a focus on education about, for, and through sustainable development, the authors advocate for meaningful and progressive academic practices that challenge traditional paradigms. With discussions spanning from ethical innovation to re-thinking research engagement, this work serves as a compelling call to action for higher education institutions to assume responsibility in shaping a sustainable and equitable future.

Structured around eight key chapters, including "A Transformative Agenda," "Learning and Teaching Matters," and "Sustainable Futures," this book is a valuable resource for educators, researchers, policymakers, and all those invested in the intersection of education and sustainability.
