About the Book
Girl-child sexual abuse remains one of the most distressing yet under-discussed social issues in India. Despite evidence of its prevalence, social stigma, cultural barriers, and traditional norms often force victims into silence. This book, based on extensive research in Beed district, Maharashtra, sheds light on the physical, emotional, and psychological trauma experienced by sexually abused girl children.
The author critically examines the nature, causes, and long-term consequences of abuse while highlighting the socialization process that teaches girls to bear and suffer silently rather than seek help. The book is a sincere attempt to break this silence, offering insights for parents, educators, social workers, NGOs, and policy-makers.
Furthermore, it provides recommendations for rehabilitation programs and strategies to support victims, making it a vital resource for gender studies, social work, and criminology.
