About the Book
India’s 73rd Constitutional Amendment introduced a significant shift by providing space for the invisible and excluded categories of people to actively participate in decentralized democratic institutions such as Panchayati Raj. These institutions, operating at the grassroots level, are central to fostering development in rural communities. This edited volume brings together contributions from a range of disciplines, examining both micro and macro-level realities of Panchayati Raj institutions in India.
The book offers a comprehensive account of how these institutions have impacted development dynamics, participatory governance, and the empowerment of marginalized individuals. Through a combination of narratives and interdisciplinary approaches, the papers present insights into the achievements and challenges faced by these institutions in empowering the excluded segments of Indian society.
