Will Durant (1885-1981) was an American philosopher, historian, and writer. He was born in North Adams, Massachusetts, and was educated at Columbia University, where he specialized in biology and philosophy. Durant received his Ph.D. in 1917 and taught at Columbia University for a year. He spent several years traveling the world, including visits to Egypt, the Near East, India, China, Japan, and Russia, conducting in-depth studies of these regions and their cultures. Durant is best known for his work on The Story of Civilization, a comprehensive history of human civilization.

Dr. Vijay Kumar Mathur is an art historian with an M.A. and Ph.D. in History. He has worked at the National Museum, New Delhi, and has traveled extensively in India and abroad. Dr. Mathur has visited numerous important museums in countries like Russia, Belgium, France, Poland, and Thailand. He was appointed by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in 1992 to select art objects for the classical art exhibition at the National Museum on the occasion of the First South Asian Festival of SAARC countries. He is the author of Indian Art, Art and Culture under the Sungas, and Marvels of Kishangarh Paintings.
