About the Book
"NGOs in India: A Cross-Sectional Study" focuses on the role of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in India, particularly those working in the fields of rural development, women and children’s welfare, and social empowerment. The book sheds light on the significant contributions made by NGOs in social welfare and rural development, as well as the challenges and obstacles faced by these organizations.
The book provides a detailed history of voluntarism in India, examining the evolution and transformation of NGOs over the years. It traces the rise of NGOs post-Independence and emphasizes their role in the development of India. Through various case studies, it also explores the partnerships and cooperation between NGOs and the government, discussing issues such as advocacy, policy implications, accountability, and the need for ethical standards within these organizations.
The authors also highlight the importance of NGO lifecycles, approaches to problem-solving, and the effective delivery of services. Additionally, the book calls for the establishment of a code of ethics for NGOs to enhance their impact on the communities they serve.
This comprehensive and insightful book serves as an essential resource for scholars, practitioners, and students interested in understanding the role of NGOs in India's development.
