Bijoy Krishna Banik (b. 1965) is a distinguished Bangladeshi scholar and archaeologist with a deep understanding of Sanskrit and professional expertise in Archaeology. He completed his B.A. (Hons.) and M.A. in Sanskrit at Dhaka University (1988). As an I.C.C.R. scholar, he furthered his education in India and earned a doctorate from M.S. University of Baroda in 1999.
Banik has been serving in the Department of Archaeology, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Bangladesh, since 1993. He began as a Research Assistant and later became Deputy Keeper of the National Museum in 2001. Over the years, he has contributed to numerous archaeological excavations and explorations across historical sites in Bangladesh. His scholarly reports and papers presented at national and international seminars have been highly acclaimed.
Apart from his contributions to academic journals, Banik is the author of several works, including Sher-e-Bangla: A Museum (2001). He is an active member of the Archaeological Society of India, the Islamic Arts Organisation, Bangladesh, and the founder-member of the Museum Council.
Banik resides with his wife Swikriti Sarker and their son, Mohor Banik Rik.
