HANDBOOK FOR COMPETITIVE EXAMINATIONS IN LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE

The University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) for the appointment of Assistant Professors in all subject fields including Library and Information Science (LIS) and Assistant Librarians (now Assistant Processors) for University and College Libraries. The NET is also basis for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs) to pursue research degrees leading to the award of M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees by the Universities and Institutions of higher learning in the country. The present book “Handbook for Competitive Examinations in Library and Information Science” is designed to meet the requirements of those appearing for UGC NET in the field of Library and Information Science. The topics / concepts include in the ‘Handbook’ will also be of help to those appearing for BLISc / MLISc Examinations conducted by Universities / Open and Distance Learning Institutions. ‘The Handbook’ acts as a ready Reckoner as topics / concepts are arranged alphabetically. Emphasis has been given to Information Technology (I.T.).
