A.K. Sharma, born in a remote village in Chhattisgarh, is internationally recognized for his contributions to archaeology and anthropology. With over 33 years of experience in the Archaeological Survey of India, he conducted explorations and excavations in various regions including Jammu & Kashmir, Uttaranchal, North-East India, Lakshadweep, Chhattisgarh, and other remote areas. After retiring from government service, he has authored numerous books such as Emergence of Early Culture in N.E. India, Manipur: The Glorious Past, Early Man in Eastern Himalayas, Prehistoric Delhi and its Neighborhood, Early Man in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, Prehistoric Burials of Kashmir, The Departed Harappans of Kalibangan, Archaeoanthropology of Chhattisgarh, Indian Megaliths, and Heritage of Tansa Valley. He is currently directing excavations at Mansar (Maharashtra) and Sirpur (Chhattisgarh) and has established archaeological museums at Mansar and Kankhal (Haridwar). He is also an Archaeological Advisor to the Government of Chhattisgarh.
