About the Book
E-Governance in Public Administration in Gujarat highlights Gujarat's pioneering role in implementing e-governance initiatives across various government departments. The state is recognized as one of the few in India that has successfully embraced technology to improve administrative efficiency and public services. The book discusses six groundbreaking e-governance projects, including the smart card-based driving licence system, automation of inter-state border transport check-posts, and city civic centres in Ahmedabad.
These projects are explored in detail, with an emphasis on the change management process, the challenges faced, and the potential of e-governance in different sectors. The book offers an in-depth view of the technology adoption process within the public administration context and provides valuable insights into the practicalities of implementing such systems.
Intended for IT consultants, government officials, students, educationalists, NGOs, and the general public, this book serves as a useful guide on how technology can transform governance and public administration.
