About the Book
"Dalit Issues: Caste and Class Interface" fills the gaps in the existing literature related to Dalit issues, providing an in-depth exploration of the struggle for Dalits to live with dignity and realize their right to life. While the right to life is constitutionally guaranteed as a fundamental right, its actualization remains a challenging and strenuous task.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s unwavering commitment to the marginalized groups in society elevated Dalit issues to national prominence, making them central to political discourse. Political parties and human rights bodies have continued to address Dalit concerns, condemning the atrocities and systemic injustices they face. Despite the progress in policies and constitutional safeguards, achieving an egalitarian society remains a work in progress.
This book offers insightful perspectives on various Dalit issues, including socio-economic deprivation, affirmative action, healthcare access, manual scavenging, education, and more. It will serve as a valuable resource for anyone concerned with Dalit rights, human development, and social justice.
