Renowned and legendary writer Ved Prakash Kamboj was one of the most prominent figures in Hindi popular literature during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Born on December 1, 1939, in Shahdara, Delhi, he developed a passion for reading while assisting his father in their artifacts shop near the Red Fort.

He began his reading journey with Indian folklore and religious texts, eventually moving into detective fiction. His entry into the literary world was guided by the celebrated author Om Prakash Sharma.

His first work, “Kangura,” was published around 1957–58 in Delhi and was republished after 62 years by Neelam Jasoos Karyalay. Over time, his novels were published by Neelam Jasoos, Ratan & Company, and several other publishers across Delhi and Meerut.

His long association with Neelam Jasoos spans over 60 years and continues even today. His popular Singhi and Alfaanse series gained immense popularity—so much so that counterfeit novels were published under his name, though such attempts ultimately failed.

Known for his simplicity and literary contribution, he is also among the few authors who translated several world-famous works into Hindi, which became highly popular among readers.
