Dr. Vaijayanti Dilip Shete is a Sanskrit scholar and currently serves as a lecturer in the Faculty of Fine Arts at M.S. University, Baroda, a position she has held since 1988. She has gained recognition for her expertise in Sanskrit texts related to Indian art and architecture, contributing significantly to this interdisciplinary field.

Coming from a traditional Pandit family, Dr. Shete has received numerous academic awards, including prizes in Veda, Vedanta, and Sanskrit grammar. She was awarded the National Merit Scholarship between 1970–1972. After completing her Ph.D. on the Upanishads, she conducted post-doctoral research on the Mahabharata plays and published multiple scholarly articles. Her work has been honored with several accolades, including the Jayamanta Mishra Prize at the All India Oriental Conference in 1997. Her 1999 research on ancient Indian science and technology received high praise from fellow scholars.
