Details: In its essence, this contextually structured book is about India’s constitutional democracy and its challenges. The author argues that a nation born to freedom will live in freedom as long as we remain unswerving in our commitment to individual liberties and compassion for the oppressed. In the pages of the book, Ashwani Kumar pleads for an unremitting commitment to human dignity, which is not suborned by lickspittle institutions and the coercive propensities of those in power. He reminds us of the lesson of history that those who feel robbed of their dignity cannot be tamed by a muscular state. The thirty-two chapters in the book reflect his deep commitment to constitutional fundamentals and our collective obligation to protest injustice in its varied manifestations.
