Born on November 25, 1933, in Baharu, 24 Parganas, Shakti lost his father early and was raised by his maternal family. He studied at Presidency College and later at Jadavpur University, although he did not complete his degree.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis literary career began with the poem \u003cem\u003e\"Jam\"\u003c\/em\u003e in \u003cem\u003eKobita\u003c\/em\u003e magazine (1956), edited by Buddhadeb Basu. He was closely associated with \u003cem\u003eKrittibas\u003c\/em\u003e magazine and gained immense acclaim for his contributions to Bengali poetry.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith over a hundred books to his name, including poetry, prose, and translations, Shakti received numerous accolades such as the Ananda Puraskar, Sahitya Akademi Award, and the Gangadhar Meher Award.
