Ved Prakash Kamboj is a legendary and popular writer, widely recognized for his contributions to Hindi literature during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Born on December 1, 1939, in Shahdara, Delhi, he developed a passion for reading at an early age while assisting his father in their artifacts shop near the Red Fort.

His literary journey began with an interest in Indian folklore and stories, gradually expanding to religious texts and eventually to detective fiction. He entered the literary world with guidance from the renowned author Om Prakash Sharma. His first work, Kangura, was published around 1957–58 and was reissued after 62 years by Neelam Jasoos Karyalay.

Over the years, his novels were published by prominent publishers in Delhi and Meerut, with a long-standing association of over 60 years with Neelam Jasoos Karyalay. His famous Singhi and Alfonse series gained immense popularity—so much so that unauthorized copies were even published under his name by others.

Known for his simple and engaging style, Kamboj is also among the few authors who translated several world-famous works into Hindi, making them accessible to a wider audience. His writing journey continues even today, reflecting his enduring passion for literature.

A notable work on his literary journey, Kambojnama, written by young author Ram Pujari after years of research, has also gained wide appreciation.
