He earned his M.A. in History from Lucknow University and was awarded a Gold Medal. He began his career in the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in 1956 and rose through various positions, eventually serving as Director General of the ASI until his retirement. After his retirement, he continued his work at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts. Prof. Joshi passed away on January 1, 2007.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDr. D.P. Awarded a Commonwealth scholarship, he qualified for an M.A. in Archaeology from the Institute of Archaeology, University of London. Dr. Sharma has published over 210 papers and 30 books.
