Renowned and legendary writer Ved Prakash Kamboj was one of the most prominent figures in Hindi popular literature during the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Born on December 1, 1939, in Shahdara, Delhi, he developed a passion for reading while assisting his father in their artifacts shop near the Red Fort.

He began with Indian folklore and religious texts before moving into detective fiction. His introduction to the literary world came through the celebrated author Om Prakash Sharma.

His first work, “Kangura,” was published around 1957–58 in Delhi and was republished after 62 years by Neelam Jasoos Karyalay. Over time, his novels were consistently published by Neelam Jasoos and Ratan & Company, and later by several publishers across Delhi and Meerut.

His long-standing association with Neelam Jasoos spans over 60 years and continues to this day. His famous Singhi and Alfaanse series gained immense popularity—so much so that counterfeit novels were published under his name, though such attempts ultimately failed.
