Soon after the passing of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa in 1886, Girishchandra Sen published a concise biography of the great saint in the journal Dharmatattva. Girishchandra Sen was closely associated with Sri Ramakrishna and had the opportunity to meet him on numerous occasions. Besides visiting him regularly at Dakshineswar, he also met the Master at the homes of devotees whenever Sri Ramakrishna visited them.
This brief biography was later compiled together with the booklet Paramahamsaer Ukti and published as a single volume titled Shreemad Ramakrishna Paramahamsaer Ukti O Songkhipto Jiboni in 1886.
