• Excelled in academics, securing letter marks in Bengali & Mathematics.
• Passed Matriculation (1936) from Raja Surya Kumar Institution.
• Completed B.A with Distinction from Bangabasi College (1940).
• Enrolled in M.A (Economics) at Calcutta University but did not complete his degree.

🖋 Literary & Professional Career:

• Began journalism in 1941-42 with the newspaper Pratyaha.
• Joined Jugantar and later worked in Statesman (1950) as a sub-editor.
• Became the chief sub-editor of Hindustan Standard (1951) and moved to Delhi.
• Returned to Kolkata in 1958 to take charge as news editor of Ananda Bazar Patrika.
• Became joint editor of Ananda Bazar Patrika (1976).
• His first poem "Prithibi" (1937) and first story "Bilati Dak" (1937) gained early attention.
• His novel "Kinu Goyalar Goli" (serialized in Desh) became an instant success.
