Renowned and legendary writer Ved Prakash Kamboj is one of the most prominent figures of Hindi popular literature from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Born on December 1, 1939, in Shahdara, Delhi, he developed a passion for reading while assisting his father in their artifacts shop near the Red Fort.

He began with Indian folklore and religious texts before moving into detective fiction. His entry into the literary world was influenced by the celebrated author Om Prakash Sharma.

His first work, “Kangura,” published around 1957–58, was later republished after 62 years by Neelam Jasoos Karyalay. Over time, his novels were published by multiple publishers across Delhi and Meerut.

His long-standing association with Neelam Jasoos spans over six decades. His highly popular Singhi and Alfaanse series gained immense popularity—so much so that counterfeit novels were published under his name, though such attempts ultimately failed.

Known for his simplicity and literary contribution, he also translated several world-famous works into Hindi, which were widely appreciated.
