This work highlights the unfortunate lack of interest in the economic development of Pakistan since the partition of India. Following the 1965 conflict, studies and research by Indian economists into Pakistan’s economic landscape dwindled, and literature from Pakistan became scarce. However, with the emergence of a free Bangladesh, there has been a renewed awareness of the need to understand our neighboring countries, particularly Pakistan, which shares common ideals of democracy and socialism with India. This book serves as an attempt to revive interest in the economic trajectory of Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of understanding the economic conditions and developments in a country that has been a key regional neighbor and partner in the pursuit of shared socio-political goals. The study reflects on the socio-economic changes and challenges faced by Pakistan and calls for greater academic and intellectual engagement with the country’s progress.
