About the Book
Titumirer Janmbhityay (Bengali Version) by Muhammad Mohsin offers a detailed account of the historical events surrounding the 1831 battle led by Major Scott against the forces of Titumir. On November 19, 1831, Major Scott's 11th Infantry Division, accompanied by Captain Sutherland's cavalry and Lieutenant McDonald's artillery, attacked the village of Narkelberia. They were armed with a 6-pound cannon from Dumdum. Despite being armed with only bamboo spears, wooden clubs, and stones, Titumir's forces bravely faced the artillery fire but were overwhelmed. The battle ended in a massacre, with Titumir and 50 other fighters losing their lives. Their bodies were burned, and 200 were taken as prisoners. This marks the tragic end of Titumir's 12-day reign in Narkelberia, from November 6 to November 18, 1831, in his struggle against British colonial rule.
